100 Years

In honor of what would be Julia Child's 100th birthday, I thought it was only right to share a few quotes by the extraordinary chef! She was truly an inspiring woman.

Come Monday.

Well Monday is here again...just a little inspiration to kick off your week! Lately I've been fully grasping the importance of doing what you love. In June I quit my job with an advertising agency and started classes at SCAD to move in a more creative direction. After all, if you do what you love it will never feel like work!

Monday Motivator

I loved this graphic below and the phrase, "Never Stop Learning." It is so important to try to gain knowledge through every facet of this wonderful world. The inspiration is everywhere - so read as much as you can, visit museums, write often, enjoy the magic of film, travel and explore the city you are in. Just Never. Stop. Learning.

The Everygirl.

The Everygirl Manifesto:
Whether she is searching for her dream job or a new city to call home;
is saving up for a down payment or a trip to Europe;
is learning to cook or speak another language,
she wants a little guidance. She wants to be inspired.

She is The Everygirl.

This is for her.

Today marked the official launch of The Everygirl, a new online resource for young women looking to bring doses of creativity and inspiration to their daily lives. Congratulations to co-founders Danielle Moss and Alaina Kaczmarski for inspiring Everygirls everywhere to chase their dreams and live the life they’ve always imagined. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for this exciting new venture :)

Inside Coco Chanel's Apartment

The Coveteur recently posted this beautiful feature of Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel's apartment. The residence at 31 Rue Cambon is infused with gorgeous red tones and a mix of oriental inspired elements. Here are some of my favorite photos from this iconic piece of Chanel history!

Cover Girl: Meryl Streep

I am ecstatic that Vogue has chosen the legendary Meryl Streep as their January cover girl. She is a phenomenal actress with two Oscars, seven Golden Globes and two Emmys. Not to mention, she is fantastic woman and role model for us all. The issue hits newsstands on December 20th!

Trend to Try: Tartan Plaid Pieces

When the winter months roll around, there is one trend that I happily welcome into my wardrobe every year: plaid! This classic print just feels so perfect in the cool weather- you can dress it up, down and even mix it with other prints. Tartan plaid is timeless, yet there are always new ways to incorporate the trend into your closet. Here are some of my favorite looks below!

Had to add this adorable little pup at the end :)

Ombre Obsessed.

Ombre is a french term that means shaded or shading. Quite simply, it is a graduation of color from dark to light or vice versa. I am loving this trend which has transcended across the fashion and beauty industries. Check out the looks below for ideas on how to chicly shade the colors in your own wardrobe!

Ombre is a popular trend for your tresses as well! This style is especially gorgeous on burnettes, like the lovely ladies below!

Under The Sea.

As mentioned in my previous post about Charlize Theron looking like a mermaid on the cover of Vogue’s December issue, many designers channeled the sea for inspiration in their spring 2012 collections.

In typical Chanel fashion, Karl Lagerfeld created an underwater dream in his spring 2012 collection. He transformed The Grand Palais of Paris into a magical ocean complete with coral, shells and seahorses. Karl was supposedly musing on the modern forms that developed at the bottom of the ocean by natural processes. His collection is fluid, light and full of underwater details. Florence Welch completed the show by singing “That’s what the Water Gave Me.” Chanel never fails in putting on a dramatic show for Karl’s innovative collections.

Sarah Burton created a world of majestic sea goddesses at Alexander McQueen this spring. According to Style.com, “she based her collection on the three Gs: Grès for the pleating and draping, Gaudí for the architecture, and Gaia for the sense of all-encompassing oceanic life that infused the clothes, like the outfits composed of coral or shells.” The shell colored palette brought a feminine touch to this underwater-inspired collection.

Riccardo Tisci for Givency also found inspiration from surfers and mermaids for his spring collection. Exotic materials like eel skin, shark and stingray were used as trimmings on his jackets. Skintight pants were representative of wet suits and shirttails and pelmet belts can be interpreted as fins. He even brought underwater details to his accessories, which included shark tooth pendants.
