New York Fashion Week Favorites.

With New York Fashion Week in full swing, there are already 5 collections that I have fallen in love with. I'm looking forward to what the rest of the week has in store for us!

1. Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung created a heaven and hell inspired collection for Fall 2012. He opened the show with all-black ensembles that transitioned to a heavenly white and ivory finale. The designer spoke of his spiritual quest and how he embraces the light and dark from within. The duality of the collection created a stunning, breathtaking show.

2. Diane Von Furstenberg
DVF named her Fall 2012 collection, "Rendezvous"; its purpose "to be glamourous at a moment's notice." Diane certainly achieved that goal with body-hugging dresses and a beautiful color palette. Each piece is glamourous, memorable and totally wearable. A bold, fearless collection from a bold, fearless woman.

3. Altuzarra
In his Fall 2012 collection, Joseph Altuzarra married the exotic with the everyday. This was his most ambitious and successful collection to date. The protagonist of an adult French comic, Corto Maltese was his inspiration for these pieces; Maltese was a traveller and had adventures in Morocco and India. These influences allowed Altuzarra to achieve his goal of making clothes "look rich but feel easy."

4. Jason Wu
In his most dramatic collection to date, Jason Wu turned to the East and embraced his Chinese heritage. "I went back to Taiwan, where I was born, a year and a half ago,” he said. “I realized I was ready to take on one of the biggest subjects I grew up with, how does a Chinese designer do ‘China’? I’ve lived in America, Canada, and Japan, but to come back to this means so much to me.” Wu channeled the military and glamourous influences of China. His stunning black and red lace dresses were the pieces I found most memorable. Beautiful!

5. Peter Som
Peter Som, usually a whimsical and "kooky elegant" designer aimed for a clean, crisp and precise Fall 2012 Collection. He achieved just that, and executed the pieces beautifully. I particularly loved the peplum shapes, coat-dresses and leather pants. A lovely change for Mr. Som!

Trend to Try: Neon & Gray

On the runways at New York Fashion Week, Diane Von Furstenberg paired bright neons with gray. This look is effortlessly cool and allows you to experiment with color.

Try pairing this neon beaded top from Sass and Bide with a pair of gray jeans!

These neon accessories would dress up any neutral ensemble. If you're aiming for a bold look, try pairing with other neons!

Small Neon Details can also add interesting elements to your outfit! Heels below from Alexander Wang.
