Anthropologie is one of those stores that I can get lost in. I can spend hours browsing the beautiful clothes and accessories and putting them together to create the perfect outfit. This weekend, I stumbled upon the Judith Collar Coat. I adore the cozy collar and the "ivory" color is just right for fall. Pair this statement coat with a floral dress that's fitting for fall and the result is flawless.

Sustainable Suds: Hand in Hand

I recently stumbled upon this fantastic soap company: Hand in Hand Soap. They are a socially and environmentally responsible company with an inspiring mission: to prevent illness for children that live in impoverished areas of the world. For every bar of soap you buy, Hand in Hand donates a bar of soap to a child. Their first soap donations were to orphanages in Haiti, but the company plans to make drops in Central America, South America, Africa and Southeast Asia. In addition to the “Buy a Bar, Give a Bar” concept, all of the soaps from Hand in Hand are environmentally friendly and fair trade certified. (50 square feet of rainforest is saved with every bar purchased!). Plus, how amazing is their packaging?! I know what I’ll be gifting this year! The soaps are now sold at Anthropologie, so pick up a bar and support this inspiring cause.

A Lush Life

This weekend, I visited the store Lush for the first time. The company, which sells fresh, handmade cosmetics for the face, hair and body, gives shoppers a unique and memorable shopping experience. The cheery employees give complimentary hand treatments, allow you to test all of the products and even give demos on how each of the products work (including the fun, fizzing bath bombs!).

I went gaga in this store…everything is fresh and made from the finest, organic ingredients. Plus nothing is tested on animals! I love this company’s values, it’s emphasis on quality ingredients and also its fun packaging (that they use without waste!).

I picked up the Love Lettuce face mask, an exfoliating mask that removes dirt, oil and debris and washes it all away. Exfoliation is a key part of every skin regimen, as it removes dead skin that clogs pores and causes imbalances. As Lush promised, this mask made me feel brand new, and glowing from the inside out.

Traverse City, the cherry capital of the world, has some of the best gourmet, cherry-based products. Brownwood Farms has grown into a premier specialty food producer in Northern Michigan. You can’t go wrong with their Famous Cherry butter and Cherry BBQ sauce! Their Famous Kream mustard has also won several awards from national mustard festivals. A unique, and delicious gift. Give your friends and family a taste of Traverse City!

2. Miner’s North Petoskey Stone Pendants
The Petoskey stone is found only in small coastal colonies around northern Michigan. Each stone is unique in color and pattern. These gorgeous pendants can be dressed up or down for any occasion! They are part of the Lakeshore Collection sold exclusively at Miner’s North Jewelers in Traverse City.

3. Baabaazuzu Mittens & Headbands
How adorable are these mittens and headbands from Baabaazuzu? The pieces are constructed by piecing together recycled sweaters in a range of color and pattern combinations. Each Baabaazuzu piece is unique- no two pieces are alike! These mittens are the warmest I’ve been able to find…a great holiday gift for friends and family who endure the cold winter months!

4. Fustini’s Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars
Looking for a unique gift for your friends and family who love to cook? Go taste testing at Fustini’s Oil and Vinegars. Jim Milligan, who traveled throughout the world and experienced the oil and vinegar shops in the “Old World”, owns the shop located on Front St. in Traverse City. In Italy, the steel containers where oils and vinegars are stored are known as a “Fustini.” This word served as inspiration for the store’s name. You can mix the oils and vinegars together and also find, tasty recipes to use the products separately! Simply delicious.
