In Memory of Evelyn Lauder

Throughout the world, people have come together to celebrate the tremendous life of Evelyn Lauder. Evelyn sadly passed away on Saturday, November 12th from ovarian cancer. She served as the Senior Corporate Vice President and head of fragrance development worldwide at Estee Lauder- a company that her mother in law, Estee, founded. More importantly, Evelyn is recognized for her advocacy and support of breast cancer. In 1993, she founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and created the iconic symbol for breast cancer: the pink ribbon. To date, Evelyn has raised more than $350 million for Breast Cancer Research and the BCRF supports 186 Cancer researchers globally.

On Monday, a private service was held at Central Synagogue for a crowd of nearly 1,500 people. The Empire State Building was also lit pink on Monday evening in her memory.

Evelyn was a beautiful woman who has touched so many lives. Her tremendous life is certainly worth celebrating.
